Midstream Cycles is no regular retail bike shop, our store is workshop centric which means that our shop is built with a focus on personalised service delivery and expert advice. This concept guides every decision in our business, from the layout to the brand and tools we stock.
Our passion is proper bikes, good coffee and making sure your bike keeps running like new.
Midstream Cycles is a place where **bike-o-holics meet, to talk bikes, service bikes, buy bikes, and share their bike experiences.

A person addicted to cycling. They cannot control how often they think of or talk about riding and their bike(s). They are sometimes known to start riding even before breakfast to take the “edge” off the day.
Meet the Chief *Cycolopath
HANFRED WICHMANN
After spending many years in the hospitality industry, Hanfred had the opportunity to start over and follow his passion. A brief sabbatical as a stay at home dada and a lot of training for Ironman led Hanfred on the journey of pursuing his passion for cycling.
Hanfred started out as a bicycle mechanic after completing his Cytech level 3 training in 2015. He was one of the first level 3 qualified technicians in the country. Soon after qualifying, Hanfred joined the Tool-Up Cycles team where he met and worked with some of the coolest people in the cycling industry.
In 2016, Tool-Up Cycles moved to Midstream and in 2018, Hanfred bought the business from the previous owner and Midstream Cycles was born!
Hanfred’s vision was to create a family owned local bike shop that focussed on excellent service delivery whilst creating a friendly vibe where cycling fanatics could meet up, have a good coffee and share in their passion for all things two wheels related.
Hanfred’s passion for bikes and the Midstream community is immense and he hopes that one day his kids will share his love of cycling and that his wife will never find out how many bikes he actually owns!
